Overview: Descovy tablets and Taficita tablets (generic)
Both Descovy tablets and Taficita tablets (generic) are used as preventive treatments for HIV infection. These drugs have the same active ingredients, so they can basically be used in the same way. However, you should be careful because Taficita tablets, which are generic drugs, may have different manufacturers and additives. Be sure to get a prescription directly from a clinic.
How to take
On-demand PrEP (when needed)
- ① Take 2 tablets 2 to 24 hours before sexual activity.
- ② Take one tablet 24 hours after the first dose.
- 3) Take another tablet 48 hours after the first dose (24 hours after the second dose)
*Please note that the time is based on the time of the first dose, not the time from the end of sexual intercourse. Be sure to follow this cycle (2 tablets - 1 tablet - 1 tablet).
*If sexual intercourse occurs every day: If sexual intercourse occurs every day, continue to take one tablet every 24 hours, and stop taking the pill after taking two doses after your last sexual encounter.
Daily PrEP
- Take 1 tablet once a day at the same time every day
- It can be taken either before or after meals, but absorption is more stable after meals.
- Continuous use of the drug will maximize its effectiveness in preventing HIV infection.
Notes
- To prevent HIV infection and ensure the medicine is effective, be sure to take it exactly as your doctor tells you.

Main Side Effects
If you experience any side effects, please contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately. If any of the following apply to you, please consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
- Headache, nausea, and abdominal distension may occur (around 2%).
- If you experience fever, fatigue, or cold-like symptoms (flu-like symptoms), consult your doctor as soon as possible, as these may not be side effects but may be HIV infection before or immediately after starting PrEP.
